GÉANT and Standards​

Leading the development and implementation of Standards

The use of standards and information from standards bodies are of great importance to and continue to be incorporated in the development of GÉANT services to ensure interoperability with services of other networking organisations. Members of the GÉANT project have leadership roles in the OGF (Open Grid Forum) and IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standards organisations and make significant contributions to the formation of standards. GÉANT is also working with standards involving the following standards bodies among others:

  • ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute)
  • IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
  • IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force)
  • ITU-T SG15 (International Telecommunication Union – Telecommunication Standardisation Sector Study Group 15)
  • OASIS (Organisation for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards)
  • OGF (Open Grid Forum)
  • TM Forum (TeleManagement Forum)
